FunnyStorm Co., Ltd. (CEO: Bobby Yu) announced on March 27 that it has filed a domestic patent for its latest invention titled “In-Game Spatial Teleportation System, Method, and Recording Medium Storing a Program for Executing the Method” (Application No. 10-2024-0034085).
Through this patent application, FunnyStorm has secured comprehensive intellectual property rights covering the system, its implementation methods, and the associated software for an innovative technology that leverages real-world user location and environmental data within games.
The core of this patented technology allows players to pre-designate certain in-game locations as “portals.” Based on real-time user location and environmental information, the player can then teleport from any other point in the game to the saved portal location.
For example, if a player has designated a portal at a specific location in the game and a special event occurs at that spot, they can instantly travel there via the portal from anywhere in the world to experience the event in real time.
This system uniquely reflects real-world physical environmental data—such as temperature, weather, and time of day—within the game space, allowing for immersive interactions. Depending on the time of day or surrounding weather conditions, different dragons may appear at event zones, blending the real and virtual worlds for a deeply engaging experience.
Bobby Yu, CEO of FunnyStorm, commented, “This patent allows us to further enhance the fusion of reality and the virtual world in gaming. We plan to incorporate this technology into our upcoming titles to deliver groundbreaking content and will continue R&D efforts to evolve the portal-based teleportation experience.”
FunnyStorm is currently applying this patented system in its next-generation location-based game Dragon Raid, aiming to secure competitiveness in both domestic and global markets with immersive adventure content.
