FunnyStorm Secures Patent to Cut Server Costs by 70% in Global Mobile RPG Rollout

Date: March 13, 2025

Body:
South Korean game developer FunnyStorm has secured a new patent for server-side optimization technology, aimed at drastically reducing server resource consumption for mobile game development—particularly in open-world, real-time event scenarios.

Traditionally, game servers manage all environmental and gameplay data. FunnyStorm’s patented solution introduces a client-server role distribution model. Instead of the server generating every aspect of the virtual environment, clients independently construct environments based on predefined matching tables.

Key benefits of the system include:

  • Only core gameplay data affected by player interaction is transmitted to and stored on the server

  • Environmental data such as GPS location, weather, and time are processed directly on the client side

  • Server processes only the minimum required data, enabling efficient real-time open-world events

According to the company, this technology allows up to 70% reduction in server infrastructure costs while maintaining stable performance—even during large-scale, concurrent global player events.

FunnyStorm plans to implement this patented technology in its upcoming mobile RPG title Dragon Raid, scheduled for global release in the second half of 2025.

This innovation will not only make operations more cost-effective but also help us deliver seamless gameplay to global users at scale,” the company said.

With the mobile gaming industry facing mounting pressure to scale efficiently for global audiences, this patent positions FunnyStorm as a technologically differentiated studio poised to compete internationally.
