South Korean mobile game developer FunnyStorm has filed a domestic patent (Application No. 10-2024-0037562) for a graph-gauge-based combat interface designed to enhance player control and immersion in mobile RPG combat.
The patented technology, titled “Game System and Method for Providing a Duel Interface and Program-Recording Medium for Executing the Method,” introduces a dynamic, timing-based battle UI optimized for small-screen devices.
At the core of this system is a graph-style gauge and a moving target needle. Players must time their input precisely as the needle passes specific points on the gauge to execute more accurate and powerful attacks.
🔑 Key Advantages:
Simple yet immersive combat even on small mobile screens
Minimalistic UI design to avoid screen clutter
Encourages precision timing and strategic play
Applicable to high-speed PvP and LBG-based encounters
CEO Bobby Yu (Yu Choong-Gil) commented:
“This patent reflects our commitment to innovating combat interfaces in mobile gaming. The graph-based battle UI will offer players both a fresh experience and intuitive control, becoming a core feature in our next-generation titles.”
FunnyStorm expects this UI system to enhance user experience (UX) and provide a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving mobile gaming market—especially within the location-based RPG (LBG) segment, where immersive and streamlined interfaces are critical.
The company stated that this technology will be applied to its upcoming titles, including Dragon Raid, to deliver fast-paced, intuitive combat without sacrificing immersion.
